Almost twenty years back, I saw a special on TV and they were discussing the origin of the European Jewry. The Jewish historians were saying that the European Jews were not original Jews but rather nomadic, pagan tribes in an area populated by the Khazar tribes who converted at the orders of their king into Judaism...the rest is history.... I read the book, "The Thirteenth Tribe", by Arthur Koestler (of the Jewish faith) many years ago. He was ostracized by the Israelis and Zionists for revealing the facts about the Ashkenazi Jews (European Jewry) and the fact that they were not even Semitic, let alone from the Holy Land (Palestine/Israel of today). They were from the Khazars, a people who inhabited the Caucasian Mountains (Republic of Georgia). This article does not come as a surprise to me. It only confirms what I had already read and known for a long time. Israel, Zionism, Zionist supporters, and much of Organized Jewry do not bring up this subject at all.
